Proximities

The theme for the 2026 edition of Deloitte’s Photo Grant is Proximities

The theme of the 2026 edition of Deloitte’s Photo Grant is Proximities, an invitation to recount and investigate the new forms of distance that characterize our era, a distance that is not only physical but arises from economic polarization, technological mediation, and social fragmentation. Photography can reveal these separations by observing how bodies inhabit spaces and how communities retreat behind screens and rhythms that reduce attention and relationships, highlighting the micro-relationships that endure in everyday life and what remains or disappears in the visible. The theme also invites reflection on what holds communities together despite the pressures of the present, and how photography can make these forms of proximity and distance legible.

Carlos Idun-Tawiah wins the third edition of Deloitte's 2025 Photo Grant

Carlos Idun-Tawiah wins the Highlights section of the Deloitte’s Photo Grant 2025. The project Hero, Father, Friend is an intimate diary that explores memory, loss, and the construction of personal identity. The photographs depict moments on the beach with his uncle, piano lessons with his grandfather, and football matches with his cousins – experiences that fill the absence of his father and show how love can arrive in unexpected ways. The work intertwines reality and fiction, past and present, offering a profound reflection on fatherhood not only as a biological role but as a gift that can manifest in many forms.

The photographer will be the protagonist of an exhibition at Triennale Milano from 27 November 2025 to 25 January 2026, alongside the project Reinas by Fabiola Ferrero, 2024 winner of the Open Call category, and a preview of the 2025 Open Call winning project.
